How a old HDD slows the boot time of your windows os

Have an old harddisk and you have it attached to your brand new computer , then it might cause your Windows OS to boot up more slower .

If you are a user of Linux/Ubuntu , you must have noticed that the OS mounts the hard disk drives after loading however windows does this on-boot and thus causes a significant slowing down of the boot time.

There are many factors that affect the speed of boot. Some of them are, Read/Write speed of the HardDisk ,
FileSystem of the hard disk , older HDD are most probably formatted in FAT32 or FAT16 , these formats are much slower than new formats like NTFS.

How the hard  disk is connected to the motherboard also plays a major role, most old HDD's use IDE cables for this connection, they are slow and error prone.

How much time delay can you expect?

It varies from computer to computer but in general , you can expect an average delay of 2~3 seconds.

The best solution to get rid of this delay would be to get rid of your old HDD!
and buy a new HDD.
